With 65 World Premieres, 27 North American and 10 U.S. Premieres among 130 features, there are plenty of opportunities to discover emerging and developing filmmakers, as well as catch up with new work from more established names - all of which feature risk takers both in front of and behind the camera.
We're also pleased to reveal our Centerpiece and Closing Night Films. Action comedy 21 Jump Street, which follows police officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) as they get sent back to high school as undercover cops, will make its world premiere as this year's Centerpiece Film. On March 17, the 2012 event will come to a close on a train ride unlike any other with Emmett Malloy's Big Easy Express, featuring Mumford & Sons, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros and Old Crow Medicine Show.
Additional highlights include Nelson George's The Announcement, Gotham Chopra's Decoding Deepak, Mark Ford's Uprising: Hip Hop & The LA Riots, Kristen Sheridan's Dollhouse, Gareth Huw Evans' The Raid and William Friedkin'sKiller Joe, among many others.
As previously announced, Drew Goddard's The Cabin in the Woods, co-written and produced by Joss Whedon, will open SXSW Film 2012 on March 9, ushering in 10 days of dazzling filmmaking talent, conference events, and much more.
